The Social Studies Department strives to develop well-rounded, informed, and active students through a comprehensive educational approach. Our goal is to stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encouraging students to engage in these practices regularly. We aim to promote active citizenship by helping students understand their roles and responsibilities in society. Through courses that draw on the perspectives of historians, geographers, economists, political scientists, psychologists, lawyers, and other social scientists, students learn to apply a variety of analytical tools and techniques. The department emphasizes respect for democratic principles, cultural diversity, and global perspectives, fostering an appreciation for human contributions across the world. Our diverse student body is supported in realizing its potential as engaged citizens, both in our local community and in a democratic society.
